Bobby and Nelly Visit Copenhagen

After hopping on the high speed train from Stockholm, Aunt Davia, Uncle Rich, Flat Bobby, and Flat Nelly arrived in Copenhagen about 5 hours later. This train goes as fast as 130 miles per hour! For reference, that’s about half as fast as Flat Bobby and Flat Nelly’s Dad can run.

Copenhagen is the capital of Denmark. There are a lot of canals the separate the streets of the city. Canals are small, narrow human-made rivers. The canals in Denmark have all kinds of different boats in them, and there are many bridges that allow people, bikes, and cars to pass over the canals.

There are so many parks in the city of Copenhagen! The parks have lots of grass, tall trees, gardens, and old statues.

One of the most interesting sights in Copenhagen is The Round Tower, or Rundetaarn as it’s called in Danish. It was built in the 1600s, hundreds of years ago! This was built to be an observatory, which is a building made to look at the stars and study them.

The Round Tower took five years to build and is over 130 feet tall

The walk up to the top of the tower had all kinds of interesting things to see. For example, there was a 300 year old toilet that was surprisingly clean. Back then, the toilet was called the “privy,” deriving from the word “privacy.” This toilet did not flush either. We cannot imagine what it must have smelled like.

Walking to the top of the tower took quite a while and was exhausting! But once you reach the top there’s a great view of the city of Copenhagen.

Uh oh! Oh no! When the four of us got back to our hotel, we realized we forgot the key to our room! How would we get back inside? All of our stuff is in there! Where would we sleep if we could not get into the hotel room? Uncle Rich and Aunt Davia did not know what to do. Luckily, Flat Bobby and Flat Nelly had a great idea!

Flat Bobby and Flat Nelly save the day!

Because they’re flat, Bobby and Nelly were able to slide under the door of the hotel room and let Aunt Davia and Uncle Rich back into the room! What a relief!

After a long day, Aunt Davia, Uncle Rich, Flat Bobby and Flat Nelly went to sleep and are looking forward to their next adventure.
